Ryan Stevens receives award from NODA

Congratulations to Ryan Stevens for recently being awarded Best Male in a musical for the district by NODA! Ryan gave his winning performance as Daniel ‘Rooster’ Hannigan in Annie last year.

Best wishes from all of your friends in Reading Operatic Society for the well deserved award!

Chair, Kim Hollamby, states: “Ryan has been consistently praised by NODA for his performances in recent ROS productions including Singin’ in the Rain and Legally Blonde. Plus he has put in many hard yards supporting us with a lot of marketing effort so it’s great to see him get recognition in this way. We’ll look forward to marking the moment at our AGM in June.”

Wyevale Carols

Thanks to ROS once again for bringing more festive spirit to the Christmas tree shoppers of Winnersh on Sun 10th. Hot chocolate, fine voices and Christmas cheer were a plenty and donations given by the shoppers. Thanks to Abigail, Katie, Natasha, Nicky, Nick and Ryan for once again supporting ROS (especially battling the snow to get there)

Woodley Extravaganza and Wyevale Carols

ROS were out again in fine voice singing songs and representing ROS in the festive season. Woodley Extravaganza had some carols as well as a glimpse of our upcoming production ‘My Fair Lady’. Thank you to Nicola for stepping in and be ‘loverly’ as Eliza and Ben for being on the streets where we live.

Wyevale Garden centre in Winnersh were also given the special treatment when ROS helped celebrate the Christmas season by singing some classic (and modern) Christmas carols.

Thanks to Nicola, Nicky, Samantha, Rhiannon, Natasha, Katie, Abigail, Gemma, Gloria, Barrie, Andrew, Nick, Ben and Ryan.

Woodley Tree of Light 2017

Ding Dong Merrily on High….ROS was once again singing! Fine voices were out again supporting Woodley Tree of Light. Nicola led the way with a festive Silent Night followed by Rhys singing Walking in the Air. Our own rat pack comprising of Andrew, Nick and Ryan crooned a jolly Most Wonderful Time of the Year concluding with carols and Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree from our choir. Another successful night and great support from all the old (and young) faces. Christmas can now begin!

Singin’ in the Rain

A massive thank you to the cast and crew of ‘Singin’ in the Rain’. The cast took to the stage and created an amazing show.

Pictures to be added soon!

Mortimer Fun Day

It was showtime again on Saturday 1st July for ROS as we took to the stage (in this case arena) to promote ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ at the Mortimer Fun Day. The sun was shining and no rain…we’ll keep that for the stage. A massive thank you to Sherridan Povey (Kathy), Kate Dew, Nicola Morrin, Ellen Darke, Becky Staunton, George Apap, Nick Brannam (Cosmo) and Ryan Stevens (Don). The umbrellas were out and the smiles a plenty – well done to the cast for pulling another one out of the bag!

Emmer Green Primary School

Thanks to everyone who helped raise funds (and awareness) for ROS and Emmer Green Primary School Fete. Over £7,000 was raised for the school and the reception for the cast was fantastic. Special thanks to Kate for organising the day and asking Reading Operatic Society to be part of this event. (Don’t forget that ROS will be performing at the Mortimer Fun Day on Saturday 1st July at 2:30pm)
