The Mikado

The Mikado operetta performed by Reading Operatic SocietyReading Operatic Society performed Gilbert and Sullivan’s popular operetta The Mikado at The Hexagon on 20-24 February 2007.

Performances were dedicated to Charlie Walton, a keen Savoyard who played a very active part in ROS productions over three decades between the 1960s and 1990s and remained a valued supporter until his passing  in 2006.

The cast of 50 included principals Keith Lawrence as The Mikado of Japan, Simon Hutson as Nanki-Poo, Iain Whittaker as Ko-Ko, Andrew Philips as Pooh-Bah, Jeff Trim as Pish-Tush, Jenni Simmonds as Yum-Yum, Alice Griffiths as Pitti-Sing, Jenny Gumbrell as Peep-Bo and Maggie Preston as Katisha. The producer and choreographer was Jill Morgan and musical director John Lawes, alongside the Reading Operatic Society’s residential production team – David Parsonson production manager, Carol Hodgkinson stage manager and Kim Hollamby lighting designer.
