Footloose the musicalReading Operatic Society performed Footloose, the musical adaption of the hit 1980s film, at The Kenton Theatre, Henley-on-Thames on 10-13 April 2013.

This marked the Society’s first performances at historic Kenton since the 1970s but judging from good audience levels and really positive comments the return had been long overdue.

Footloose the stage musical was adapted by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie, with music by Tom Snow, lyrics by Dean Pitchford and additional music by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins and Jim Steinman. It was first performed in 1998 and the story and music will be familiar to fans of the film that brought Kevin Bacon and Sarah Jessica Parker to prominence.

The Reading Operatic Society production was directed by Lloyd White with musical director Mark Webb and choreographer Emma -Jane Taylor alongside the Reading Operatic Society’s residential production team – David Parsonson production manager, Carol Hodgkinson stage manager and Kim Hollamby lighting designer. It featured Jerome Ifill as Ren McCormack, Caroline Kennedy as Ariel Moore, Stuart Neal as the Reverend Shaw Moore, Sam Pemberton as Willard Hewitt and Charlotte Gilliam as Rusty among a cast of 30.
