Disco Inferno

Disco Inferno the musical performed by Reading Operatic SocietyDisco Inferno was Reading Operatic Society’s 60th anniversary show. It was performed at The Hexagon, Reading on 14-18 September 2010.

ROS worked closely with the writer of Disco Inferno, Jai Sepple, to fine-tune this tale of a 21st birthday boy who sells his soul to the devil’s representative in order to achieve fame and fortune – but at a cost. Based around familiar musical tunes of the 1970s, Sepple explains “I set out with one aim …to rekindle some of those long forgotten memories of the decade of flares, platforms, glam and disco…the seventies is a decade that people do want to remember. And why not? It was fun and that’s what this show is all about.”

Disco Inferno featured a cast of 44 with principal roles performed by Damian Sollesse as Jack Flash, Louise Woods as Jane, Adam Butler as Tom, Jenni Simmonds as Maggie, Joshua Young as Heathcliffe, Caroline Carragher as Kathy, Oliver Kyte as Terry, Kevin Gingell as Duke, Maria Lukeman as Lady Marmalade, Adrian Tang as Nick Diablo, Paul Jones as Lily and Samantha Fields, Anna Jennings, Charlotte Partlow and Georgia Yurkwich-Spink as Fallen Angels. The show was directed by David Parsonson, with musical director Marc Pizer and Choreographer Scott Jenkins alongside the Reading Operatic Society’s residential production team – David Parsonson production manager, Carol Hodgkinson stage manager and Kim Hollamby lighting designer.
