Die Fledermaus

Die Fledermaus operetta performed by Reading Operatic SocietyThe classic Johann Strauss II operetta Die Fledermaus was performed by Reading Operatic Society at The Hexagon, Reading, on 23-27 September 2008.

The production featured the adaption by Phil Park and Ronald Hammer and adopted the traditional approach of casting a female in the role of Prince Orlofsky, played in this case by Jenny Gumbrell.

The cast of 54 included principals Maggie Preston as Rosalinda Eisenstein, Daniel Powell as Baron Gabriel Eisenstein, Suzannah Brooksbank as Adele, Keith Lawrence as Doctor Falke, Tom Gingell as Alfred, Iain Whittaker as Frank, Jenny Gumbrell as Prince Orlofsky, Rebecca Finch as Ida, Adrian Tang as Doctor Blint, Kevin Gingell as Frosch, Jess Wallis as Mitzi and Philip Elliott as Ivan. The producer and choreographer was Jill Morgan and musical director John Lawes, alongside the Reading Operatic Society’s residential production team – David Parsonson production manager, Carol Hodgkinson stage manager and Kim Hollamby lighting designer.
